This is my winning artwork of the Attenborough Film & WWF art competition “Just Imagine”. This is the artwork which started this whole project you see in Cirencester today. With 650 artists around the UK entering the competition I was thrilled to be announced as one of 12 winners. The brief was to imagine a future where we put nature at the heart of our decisions. How would that future look?
As an artist I have always been inspired by aerial images of the earth. I look in awe at these images because they often don’t even look real. There is something special about zooming out and seeing the earth from a higher perspective. In this piece I wanted to show the journey of change from where we are today, to where we could be in the future if positive decisions are made.
In the bottom left corner you see the barren land with the golden bridge, which leads to the abundant nature growing back and flourishing. In this vision for the future, natural habitats are starting to thrive again, waterways are healthy and mother nature loves to surprise us (can anyone see the heart?!).
Mixed Media on canvas
Part of the Just Imagine project in collaboration with WWF. Earlier in 2021 I won the Just Imagine competition by WWF & Attenborough film. The artist brief was to imagine a future where people and nature can thrive in harmony. What would our rebuilt future look like if we put nature at the heart of our decisions?
Since winning the competition with the artwork “The Golden Bridge To Renewal” I have gone on the create many further artworks to inspire a positive future. I take inspiration from how I would love to see the future for humanity and the planet.
